Langdales Woodland is situated just east of the village of Greengairs in North Lanarkshire within Central Scotland. The property is in two sections, separated by the B803 Greengairs Road and some adjoining woodland, in a very accessible part of the country for access to timber markets in the north and south. To locate the property please refer to the location and sale plans.
The woodland was planted in 2002 with an attractive mix of mainly commercial conifer species and some mixed broadleaves creating what is now a highly productive woodland.
The underlying soils are fertile and relatively low lying between 160 – 195 metres above sea level which has allowed the main crop of Sitka spruce to flourish and achieve high growth rates of Yield Class 26 and over. Thinning could now be considered to improve the crops log volume or simply left to grow on to maturity.
The original farmland field margin trees are still visible and an old shelterbelt and Pond is located within the middle of the northern section. This could be opened up to create some wildlife habitat and to the south of the southern section lies an open area of Peat and Heather Moorland that could be considered useful for offsetting your carbon emissions.
