Description

The property has a diverse mix of commercial conifer, Scots pine and native species established on former hill ground overlooking Glen Urquhart, planted in two stages.

The northern half of the woodland was established in the late 90’s with a mix of native Scots pine, Birch, Rowan and Willow planted to mimic the natural development of native woodland with a mosaic of open spaces. As a result of this, natural regeneration of Birch and Juniper from surrounding seed sources has also taken place and more recently a Forestry Grant Scheme was entered into to establish woodland on the southern half of the property.

A deer fence was erected to enclose the majority of the property and ground preparation and planting was completed during spring 2021. Sitka spruce was established on the lower slopes with native Scots pine planted higher up the slopes to merge with the native woodland to the north.

Following two seasons of new growth, all species have established well and the woodland will now develop into a highly productive and attractive forest in a truly stunning location.
