Landfor is an independent agency specialising in all aspects of forestry, land, and estate sales. We provide a range of services that includes the appraisal of assets for sale, acquisition, valuations, and advice on how best to achieve your sale or acquisition objectives. We also provide consultancy services to private clients on management of their land-based assets and advice on how best to achieve their objectives with some lateral thinking.
Patrick Porteous
Landfor was established in 2020 by Patrick Porteous who, prior to setting up Landfor, acquired significant knowledge and experience working in the management and marketing of forestry, estates, and rural property over the past 35 years. Working and qualifying in forestry and arboriculture and then going on to work with two well-known chartered land and forestry management companies between 1995 and 2007. Managing a range of commercial forest and native woodland portfolio’s for mainly private clients and assisting estate owners with the management of their Highland sporting estates. This included becoming an Institute of Chartered Foresters registered consultant.
In 2007 Patrick joined John Clegg & Co in Edinburgh, where he took on the development of the Scottish agency business and became an equity partner handling the sale and acquisition of well over £700 Million worth of forestry, land, and estate assets. As well as developing some forest sales in Ireland and securing the Forestry Commission for Scotland’s forestry disposal contract for several years. Following the sale of John Clegg & Co to Strutt & Parker in 2016 and its subsequent sale to BNP Paribas Real Estate Division in 2017, Patrick continued as a director of the agency until the end of 2019.
Seeing the need for a more proactive agency and consultancy business in Scotland, Patrick established Landfor with the aim of providing clients and the wider market with a refreshing independent option that sets out to put the requirements of the client and their objectives first.
Harry Graham
Harry joined Landfor with over 6 years professional experience as a land and forestry agent working with two well-known chartered surveying firms in Scotland. Specialising in the marketing of a range of land-based assets, Harry has overseen the sale and acquisition of over £300 million worth of forestry, farmland and estates across Scotland. This has included securing and running the forest disposal programme for Forestry and Land Scotland since 2022 and working with one of the largest forestry investment companies in the UK on several large-scale successful disposals.
Harry has first class client relationship and negotiating skills and always endeavours to go the extra mile to ensure the best outcome is achieved for clients. Whether it is valuing rural property, preparing assets for sale, or providing advice on sales and acquisitions.
His knowledge of the sector continues to evolve and is aided by his country background, being brought up on a dairy farm and jointly running a family firewood business in southwest Scotland. All of which has provided him with the skill set he now uses on a daily basis.
